Bullenhuser Damm Butterfly Collection

And at last all my twenty butterflies are finished. I have been working all summer, every minute I could since my old mother needs to be taken care of. My terrace is  overcrowded, scissors, paper,  magazines and all sorts of things useful for my project Thinking about those twenty children  murdered under horrible circumstances  how couldn't  I take part in the project began by the Holocaust Museum in Houston in 2001. They are collecting 1,500,000 butterflies in memory of the children who lost their lives. Butterflies are the symbol of hope and now we need to hope for a bright future because terrible things still involve children in the world. My butterflies are unique. Bidimensional they all have sentences and objects related to the story of the children killed on April 20th 1945. I am a teacher and poet and not an artist but I decided  to get involved and do my best in memory of my angels with pink and blue wings. Now it's time to make better photos and make a little video to illustrate all butterflies. SIde two of each  butterfly has got the name of the child embedded in something related to the child. Sergio de Simone is sorrounded with shoes of a trendy Italian brand teeagers love to wear. Its bright colours seem to move just like that step forward which put an end to his life. Wasserman means Waterman so that butterfly has got the colours of the sea and it's sorrounded by shells. Riwka Herszberg's life had been spared because a Nazi officer used to take her horseriding with him. Her butterfly is yellow and a long pony tail and a hand reminded me of the dreams she couldn't have. Please look careful at all details of my butterflies and share my facebook album.
